in Vray you can use both releases 2.5 and 3.0, both kernels.

Do you imagine this being that both max plug-ins work? Or that the latest max plug-in could use the 1.x kernels? If it is the latter, it is probably be better to come up with a way to make 2.x do this internally by turning off the newer features.
