Hello, I'm passing on the V2 and I need help
I would like to know if anyone has an example or a tutorial on the use of a sun + hdri texture to the sky. I would like to be able to control the orientation made my light independently my sky texture to better control the reflections on my glass facade.
Is it necessary to use the official version or the trial version?

I don't know what you mean about trial or official version. It works since the v2.0 of Octane and Octane plugin. Maybe the plugin demo is not yet made for V2.0. The number of the plugin version is on the title bar of the Octane toolbox in Cinema 4D.
In Cinema 4D, in the object OctaneDayLight, you'll find two checkboxes: Mix sky texture and Imp. Samp. Activate these boxes and add an OctaneSky. That's all Folks...

I am unable to get this to function.
When I check both imp samples and mix I get a result that makes the sun go away and the power is making the HDRI brighter.
When I uncheck "new model" the sun starts to behave properly but the color of the sun is only defined by the rotation of the sun (which i don't want - just looking for a pure white)
