Wanted to see how Maya did with texture loading for a texture heavy animation.
Did pretty well each frame took a minute and loading (when made into proxys) was very quick.

Very cool Peter!
Looks real clean and noise free. At least on my monitor.
I know it's a WIP, but...would really love to see that brook moving. =]
best,
O

Thanks mate
Yeah I want to move the brook and do something more creative with the green dude.
Also I'd like to add some dust and bugs... you ever done that?
Peter

Dust yes, bugs no:

Btw, I just noticed that your forest floor terrain could do with some high res displacement. The map looks low for such a closeup...
best,
O

Good eye O.
I actually have to re-do the floor terrain. It looks like a black slippery blob from outer space right now : > )
Spline particles aye... I'll have to put Maya's hair rendering to task and see if I can throw a few tiny hairs from an emitter... might be easier just to use particles... but I like the way yours actually looked like tiny dust and lint particles.
On a spare day some time in my life I'm on it. :>)
Thanks for the link... I forgot how nice that rendering you did was. Top five Octane ones I have seen fo sho man

Hey thanks! But I can't take credit for the lint. It is a really cool technique from El-Bloko.p3taoctane wrote:Good eye O.

It's the same lint particle instanced through a particle emitter. In my case, I used the parametric controls of the particle emitter to randomize the size, scale and rotation of each particle.
But ya, I'm sure you can use the standard particle options. I just 'went there' because I really enjoyed El-B's results.
best,
O
