Displacement does not work neither with c4d shaders nor textures when they are in Mix Material or in Mix Shader, pure shader/texture only. Is that the way it shall work right now or is it an issue of my machine?
of course i'll continue to improve this. Still have todo.
Mixmaterial has own displacement slot, you should use it. Also octane don't supports own shaders. Displacement uses imagetexture only.
If you use c4d's shaders(layer), they will convert to imagetexture first. So it will work. I hope that's clear.

Btw, i like to hear opinions about stability of 2.03. New implementation for c4d shaders, it's not safe for multicores. Some shaders can cause crashes. Please be aware of and regard that

Great to hear, found it. I always forget to look into the attributes manager wich solo shows up some few parameters like this displacement node. Works well so far, thank you very much!

And hows about the Mix Texture Shader? I tried to put a Displacement Shader in every slot bevor linking textures, as well as taking the Mix Texture Shader in a Displacement Shader in the Displacement slot. It doesn't like my tries :/ How is the workaround for that?

The Octane's own shader? OK, thanks. I don't use them often but good to know for the LiveDB e.g.

Layer worked well so far, didn't use them with 2.03 but will let you know if something is missing.

ImageTextures invert isn't working at this time in displacement , right?

Edit: have my Core settings on 3 for the C4D shaders. Are there some specific shader wich can cause a crash or is it random? No crashes so far with that.

Edit2: Very nice side-effect of the Mix Materials separate displacement node: one can mix 2 materials in the Mix Mat wich have both there own displacement. The displacement of the Mix Mat is driven by the Mix Mats own displacement, but when you use the both materials solo their own displacement node will be used. 3 different displacements in one setup working on different places, fine :)

displacement is very limited with only for imagetexture. If you use mixtexture, will not work. So you can mix some c4d shaders or images via c4d's layer shader.

yes, only transform is working. Otoy guys can fix this or not, i'm not sure.

crashes can expected with multicores and can be very spesific to every system. Because maxon guys say that's not safe.

Ah, now, got it. Therefore the layers hint. Have to switch on my cooling fan :)

Okay, got the first one playing around with the settings parameters. Changing the shader does nothing so far.
Float is meant for smoother transitions?

float means 32bit images(32bit per channel), not 8bit as jpegs. It gives much better results on displacements(removes stepping effects). But memory consumption can be problem with this.

Hey Aoktar, was checking out the demo scenes and realized that the hair is not rendering in 2.03.0. The live viewer shows the guides while the picture viewer shows nothing.

Sorry Aoktar, my fault, I forgot about the hierarchy issue in the render settings. You may want to add that to the manual.

It is in PDF, see Hair section.

No. Cheetah is the only file where Octane Renderer is missing in rendersettings wich could lead to that. But hair11.c4d seems to be corrupt.

I've tried diffuse material, glossy, and mix. Enable displacement in material's basic tab. Try to load anything in the displacement channel and nothing appears in the link box. If I try to load a bitmap directly Cinema asks me if I want to copy the file to the scene location, but the file still doesn't load in the link box and I don't get any displacement. What am I missing?

Also, accessing the node window from Cinema freezes Cinema. I have to close the node window from the Windows quick-launch bar to get control back.
