Howdy,

so what have you guys been up to with Octane? I never know if I should post new renders in the first pride thread, so I thought it might be better to start a new one :)

Now with Octane I'm thinking of making turntable previews for my products. Did a first test with my swimsuit:

The intro was made by rendering the scene twice, once with the logo, once without and then blending them in postwork. I left the animation rendering for about 20 hours or so (for about 15 seconds of animation at 30fps and 1080*1920). I probably could have tweaked the speed, but I have a GTX Titan that is only used for Octane rendering so I just left it rendering... and I can just use my computer as if nothing is going on, I love that so much :D. I had plenty of other things to keep me busy with the animation.

Cheers,
Elele.

Hi Elele,

Should you want to create interactive object movies I can recommend this tool:
http://ggnome.com/object2vr
It has some really interesting features for showing products that you could never get with normal video.

(I'm just a happy user, nothing else)

Cheers!

For the V6 animation I used Pathtracing with a maxdepth of 12 (for SSS and reflections). The intro was in default PMC.

Ah a happy customer!... (I hope :) ) I just uploaded an update for the product to support the new shapes that came out since the release.
The actual proces of making the HD morphs is pretty much the same as regular morphs, so not much more work there. Though, since it is HD the idea is to create more detail. The detail has to be created though, so depending on your workflow that might be more work.
I'm not really sure why there hasn't been more HD clothing. I like it and will be using it again when needed. Maybe some PA's aren't aware it can be used on all types of content? I dunno really.

I didn't realise there was an gallery forum :? Those are some sweet images too!
Anyways, one for the DS plugin/content can't hurt :D.

Looks interesting. Does it work on normal video players (can anybody watch it?). Though I am a little fed up with learning software atm :D

I used the adobe CS6 production premium since I already have it. Specially after effects, but it's like learning a new photoshop. You'd think they would share as much conventions as possible between their programs, but nooo lets mix everything up  ... time to end before i enter rage mode :D

BTW, did you guys see what the intro was supposed to be? There no deep meaning behind it but I'm just curious what you did see?

How do you actually do HD morphs though? Is there a secret PA tool or is it just something I haven't figured out?

There is a PA tool. It is not secret but it is exclusively for DAZ products.

Great video Elele, the intro was a nice touch and I wasn't expecting sound, made it feel more professional.
Edit2: Just noticed that you appear to be using fake eye reflections, which looks really quite odd in the turntable animation, as they don't change turntable rotates, so it looks a bit like there's something stuck to the surface of her eyes.

I think Sunny Swimsuit HD is probably still the best bit of HD clothing out and my first image with it, is by far my most popular on DA (still gets 50+ views a day 6 months later and passed 15k views total a few days ago).

I look forward to the update with the additional shape support, although not the massive download again :)
(The one major thing I dislike about DIM is having to download the full product again because of tiny changes like the meta data or directory structure. They need to implement support for binary delta changes or something, which would be cool)

Object2VR looks interesting, but waaay over priced for what it does, the standard version would cost me over $100 (AUD) and it still has there branding on it, you need to buy the pro version which costs over $360 to get unbranded output, which is ridiculous and only a bit less than what Octane costs.

Edit: Opps just read what unbranded actually means:
"An unbranded license allows the user to hide the About Pano2VR… or the About Object2VR… menu option found within the right-click context menu of the HTML5 or Flash outputs."

Only the trial version adds watermarks to the output. Still, not the cheapest thing around.
