Hello, I couldn't locate a section on the website/forums for feature requests, so I apologize in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong place.

I've noticed that a lot of time is wasted loading up my saved material presets for each item in a scene. If I have a scene in Poser with 2 figures, and a few dozen articles of clothing and background props, I have to right click on each figure and object in the Octane plugin and select a material preset for it, wait a few seconds for it to load, and then select the next one etc. Most of these figures and props are ones that I've used before, and so I have a custom Octane material preset saved for them.

I'd really like for the Octane plugin to do this: when it detects a prop in a scene, for example "Easychair X", it looks in a designated Octane material presets folder on my machine, finds that there is a .poc file called "Easychair X", so it automatically loads up my custom preset materials for "Easychair X".

Multiplied by the number of times in a scene I have to right click, load, repeat, this could really streamline work. I'm a little surprised that there isn't already support for this feature, and if it does already exist I'd be thrilled if someone pointed that out to me.

I a way you can do that now
If you have a material assigned in the plugin, you can save that octane material as Poser material. You can do that for a single material of for a complete prop or figure.
Once you have done that, you can save the prop or figure in the library, or you can save the material or material collection to the library.
Now if you load the material or prop/figure before you start the plugin, it will take the octane material from the poser material. If you want to do it later or when you want to change the octane material to another set - load the material from the poser library and then in the plugin choose "recomvert materrials from poser"
So it is pretty much as you do it in Poser

Yes, thank you!

I just tried what you described and it is excellent! I used to wonder what the "save as Poser materials" choice was useful for, and eventually forgot about it. This actually works better than what I was hoping for in my feature request.

Cheers to you, you've saved me from a lot of redundant button clicking and menu scrolling in the future!
