Hi!

If I want to render out shadows on the ground (plane) but I only want to shadows and the AO to be visible, not the plane.
How would I do that?

if there is a method I'd like to know it too.
But I don't think there is one.

Did you tried MATTE option of the Octane diffuse material ? For me it works fine.
It's easy to use: a diffuse material with a black color and MATTE option checked, applied to your plane.
If i remember well, it works fine only with higher Directlighting kernel and pathtracing/PMC.
