Dear OTOY,

Is it possible to add such option to turn on something like auto-sphere around camera position to be able to render fog even if I am inside SSS medium? It would create an empty geometry (a sphere) in which there would be a camera. Its radius could be an input.

Hey smicha,

What you might be able to do is create a big sphere but put a very small sphere inside it so the camera is outside of the medium...

Then create Float Value node at attach it to your Camera node to be the Position. Create a placement node for the sphere and then link that to the Float Value node that's used for the camera.

Should do the trick, in theory?

Wait I'll try it out

Very clever Phantom! Thank you for your time and help.

Maybe this solution can serve as a guide for OTOY. 'auto-sphere around camera for fog rendering' e.g. in render kernels would be so nice. Then a small invisible sphere around camera would be added.
