Correct. In terms of performance, the GTX 780 is equal to that of the original Titan. For the same cost it would make more sense to purchase two 6GB versions of the 780. I use the 3 GB for the same purpose and have no problems. You might need to lower the size of some image textures that arnt up close to make sure everything fits in VRAM.
