First post here so hello everyone ;)

I have never used octane, so know very little about the tech details in regards to GPU etc.

I am however planning to build my first GPU rendering rig with 2 cards in it.

If I get 2 780 6gb, does this mean I get double cores (2304 x 2) but only 6gb of memory in total??

I am essentially trying to figure out if I am better off buying 1 titan or 2 gtx 780 6b.

It's exactly the same price in scan.co.uk for both options.

Ta!

Correct. In terms of performance, the GTX 780 is equal to that of the original Titan. For the same cost it would make more sense to purchase two 6GB versions of the 780. Make sure that your power supply can handle running two cards.

Hi, can someone explain to me one thing?
i would to buy 3 video cards to use with octane, and i would 3 nvidia 780 ti with 3gb of memory. Reading this post, now i know that cuda cores will doubled up, but not the memory. Then, can i buy one 780 with 6gb, use that for memory scene size, and add the core of two 780 ti for performance?
I need to set up octane in a special way? Thank you!

No, Octane needs to fit all geometry into each GPU. So in this case, your max VRAM is 3 GB.

Thank you! And, in this case, it is better to choose the 780 for the memory size, or the 780 ti for the power and cuda core? It will be used for interior and exterior scene in archiviz.

I use the 3 GB for the same purpose and have no problems. You might need to lower the size of some image textures that arnt up close to make sure everything fits in VRAM. Honestly, I fit most scenes into my 1.5 gigs on the 580.
