Hello,
I would like to create my materials using octane then save them into a library and import/download them into c4d for use. Is this possible and if so how?
Thanks!

Yes it is possible using ORBX saves from Standalone. It is also possible to fine tunes the actual scene with function File > Edit in Standalone (don't forget to refresh the scene in the previewer before edit in Standalone, it uses the nodes created for the previewer for these function).
You create your material in standalone, you select all the nodes and right click > Save... (as Octane package). You may also use a Node Graphs for creating your material. In Cinema 4D, in Octane toolbox, menu File > import Orbx. You'll see the new materials in the material manager.
It works fine and is very usefull.
