when have you downloaded the installer? if it was more than a few weeks back, please re-download from the download page (http://render.otoy.com/account/download_archive.php) and try again. as of 4.6 in conjunction with dzim, the daz studio installation doesn't write the install location into the windows registry, so i needed to change the plugin installer...Jools wrote:Hi all,
I switched to a Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD today. DS installed fine on the SSD, as did the Octane Render standalone. The DS plug-in installer however will not work, not even in administrator mode. It doesn't find the DS folder and it doesn't unpack to folder. So I tried unpacking to my old HD, guessing the SSD was the problem, and that worked fine. So I now have an unpacked folder with the plugin files. Where to go from here?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you, T_3. It's all working fine now. Octane even recognizes the new MSI GTX 760 4GB model now.t_3 wrote: when have you downloaded the installer? if it was more than a few weeks back, please re-download from the download page (http://render.otoy.com/account/download_archive.php) and try again. as of 4.6 in conjunction with dzim, the daz studio installation doesn't write the install location into the windows registry, so i needed to change the plugin installer...

Hi there.
Just bought and installed Octane Render 2.0 and the DAZ3d plugin. I sent a scene from DAZ to Octane and it has been stuck on "Building Geometry" for about half an hour. I toodled around in the forum to find a solution and am now wondering...should I have installed an earlier version of Octane to work with the plugin?
tx.

Check that you are not trying to use more than vram that you actually have - check the "textures" tab. I had that issue yesterday, and vram was the problem.
The plugin and standalone are completely seperate, so there should be nonissues with the 2.0 standalone.

As DrHemulen says the plug-in installs with, and uses, it's own version of the Octane render engine (hence the reason for needing two licences: one for the plug-in and one for the standalone Octane engine).MelissaConway wrote:Hi there.

Okay, the texture tab told me: VRAM memory (in use by textures: 3222MB / still available: 175921880416MB). Is that the problem? And if so, I don't know how to go about lowering my texture sizes. tx
Yup, that's the problem. Calculation doesn't work when you try to use more than 100%.
How much vram do you have?
You need to either unload something or reduce texture sizes to make everything fit in memory.
Reduce size for the largest ones with the little drop down buttons out on the left. You can downsize to half or quarter size there. Also change type for all greyscale images to floatimage, that uses less memory.
When the percentages look sane, you should be OK.
