Hi friends...
what is the best application to export OBJ/MDD to Alembic?

I guess the best thing to use would be your native 3d modeling & animation app if it supports Alembic export.

If you can only export to MDD you might try NewTek's ChronoSculpt, which can import MDD cache files and export to Alembic. They have a fully functional trial, which I tested many months ago when Octane first introduced Alembic support.

Why would you want to convert an OBJ to Alembic though? They don't contain any animation and you can import OBJ's directly into Octane.

Chronosculpt is my bet to do it.
It works importing OBJ then MDD. I cannot importing MDD without an OBJ file, but the Alembic is exported without materials or UVs.
I tried to apply RGB IMAGE ( UV map ) inside Octane but the result is not satisfactory, the colors didn't match.

Well, I have sucess using MODO do import OBJ/MDD, the model exported into Alembic accept/match the UV map. Yabba Dabba Doo!
