Instancing / Forest Pro
hi fuzzybro
here is a small test. I think I do it the same way as you, but it seems that it wont work.

Hi Jorgensen,
Not sure but I think that in your video, you are scaling objects that are inside your sketchup component.
This has no effect as Octane ignore what inside (this is the goal of the proxy/ghost method).
You should scale the component itself, not what it contains.

Hi Pascal
You're right I did scale inside the component. So now it works.
But how does one scale a forest with 100+ trees?
I don't know if it's possible, but could this be possible?
- scaling the component on outside, scale only the 'attached' proxy
- scaling inside the component scales all proxies.
Thank

There are many tools for SU that can place/rotate/scale components. But how does one scale a forest with 100+ trees?
- Integrated into 3D Tree Maker, you have the Make Grass feature, or duplicate feature that can be used with any tree template, to place multiple items on a surface
- but also Makefur, CLF Repeat copy, and many others, can do that.
so you only have to link once your component with Octane ocs/obj, and then you can make as many instances as you want within SU.
less than 10 clicks to create this :
Thanks ppoublan
I will look into the plugins

Compospray plugin for the SU components and then link to external ocs files for the trees. I actually did some work on the standalone because I combined two scenes, but everything I did can be done in SU only
Wow! That is very impressive!neo83_gr wrote:Instancing in SU was never easier!I did that with 3 tree models and 4 grass models. Using instances before the plugin was taking a lot more time. I'm very excited, it's like a dream comes true!![]()
Glad you guys sorted everything out, you are awesome
