Hi everybody

my problem is that no matter what settings I adjust for the "cornea" material it is not reflected in the render. The goal is to create a nice eye reflection but noting worked so far. Nothing I adjusted was actually visible in the render...
I tried:
  • assigning different materials from the live db glass and glass like structures, even strange materials like copper
  • recreated blank meaterial and assigned live db materials later
  • changed to glossy material
  • changed to IBL lighting
  • changed render mode to Pathtrace or PMC
  • etc...
Also very strange, changing opacity for "Iris" is restarting the render, while for "Cornea" it isn't restarting
It is a consistant behavoir and I'm using the latest version of Octane, Daz Studio Pro and nvidia drivers with a GeForce GTX670

I don't have a clue what I'm doing wrong..

THANKS for your help.

Have you removed cornea from the surface material filter under the OcDS preferences tab?
Also do you have the same problem(s) if you use EyeReflection?

THANKS you pointed me in the right direction!
ooh yes on the preferences tab. cornea was included in the surface materials (have to check what that setting really means)
If I remove cornea from there, reflections appear immediately. I assigned architectural glass to it, but renders become very slow and noisy.
Tried to tweak that via different material settings however without luck.

current settings are ok - but not overwhealming
material water, fake shadows off!

Any ideas on how to handle this or any suggestions for optimal eye settings?

I dunno about anybody else, but when the new version of the plugin came out, the clear cornea material vanished from the LiveDB for me (materials seem to be linked to versions, there's mats that are in 1.53 standalone that aren't in OcDS as well).
At the moment I'm just using a spec material with an index of 1.38, opacity of 0.8 and architectural can be on or off depending on what you need, does the job fine.

There are also some characters now days that use both Cornea and EyeReflection, Elene HD for Victoria 6 by Raiya is one such one and it does it in a way I've never seen before, although the results are nice.

thanks for your help! I will keep you updated on good settings... but the most important thing was the cornea removal stuff I simply overlooked... I can assure you that was frustrating :D

I ended up using these settings: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 96#p165796
Remember that the more advanced ones don't work well with the directlighting kernel.
