strange gamma-issue ... or just me being a douche ?!

Maybe someone can help me with this one:

it looks like a gamma-issue but i've tried to alter all the gamma adjustments i know in max an octane up and down but still getting these far to dark renders, when it looks correct in the octane viewport. Any ideas? Or am i missing a basic here?

BTW: Using 1.53a

((solved - kind of ;-))
i exported my objects and imported it into a fresh 3ds scene ... and now everything working ok. Its not a solution for the strange issue ... but a workaround ;-)

I think - disable gamma - go to Customize/Preferences - Gamma and LUT tab - uncheck the Enable Gamma/LUT Correction

"Apply tonemapping for output" is the reason.
