Any one with experience generating textures want to take a crack at replicating the supplied example into a texture for Octane for C4d? With an approval I can offer a monetary compensation. Any help is appreciated. The stainless in the Live Database is close, but just doesn't cut it. Thanks!

increasing Y seams to just make the crevices wider rather than more smudged, the supplied image is a real photograph i'm trying to replicate, but don't have a highres version of it to generate my own mix material from.

I'm not sure what is Your object but in some cases the best would be to custom texture & try to play with it.

The way to do would be this:

New image in photoshop > add monochrome noise > apply motion blur filter + You can play a bit with curves/exposure etc. in order get the bump map more subtle or on the other side more expressed.

The resolution is up to You & totally depends on Your object. Then simple grey glossy material with bump at very low levels.

I don't know if that is physically correct (as I usually don't care if it looks good) but leaving index at 1 gives the best result for me for this type of material.

Again if You need more subtle look You can blend (mix) the material with some other. Maybe adding subtle scratched texture would even add some extra details.

Playing with film index and film width would help to bring some extra flexibility (trying to get exactly what You need) as these are usually covered with some clear coat to be more resstatnt to scratches & that also gives a tint to material (it's rarelly plain grey).

P.S. That's what I get using the same technique - You can get more subtle & so - just a matter of time spent tweaking

Thanks glimpse, trying these techniques to see how close we can get to replicating the example. I'll try to post where we're at when we get something working.
