Hi guys.
I've been trying to import .abc files from C4D R15 to Octane, but when I get them there, there's only one material input. I'm pretty sure this is a C4D issue, but is there an example alembic file that I can use to test this out with?
I've tried makign polygon selections. I had likfe 4 or 5, but only one showed up. Creating different materials in C4D doesn't work either.
Again, I think this is just C4D being stupid, but if there's an example Alembic file that I can load in to both Octane and C4D, that would be great. Thanks.
Example Alembic files? (C4D issue)

Material assignments are not a standard feature of Alembic, and most built-in exporters don't export any. But I think Cinema4D should export the polygon selections in a way Octane reads them as materials. Cinema4D materials are not exported to Alembic files.

Alright. Thanks for responding.
They said the same over at C4D cafe... however, I was watching this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xByW06q ... e=youtu.be
And it looks like he exported the scene out of Modo and when it came into Octane, all of the material shaders were there. Or at least the points were there so you could assign them back. (It happens about 2:35 I think)
If I can't set the colors of things in the scene, why would I put it in Octane to begin with? I can't make material groups in there. How do I get those back?
Thanks.
PS: This article says Alembic does support materials and lights. So what does it mean if not textures or even basic color materials?
