No, it's happening when converting an existing MODO material with luminance.
There is currently no conversion of Modo luminous materials to Octane emitters. The only conversion to an emitter is when you click the Create Octane Emitter button. However, luminous conversion is planned for the next release.
Was this mentioned already? When using the setup viewport in a second display, it doesn't remember that location the next time you open MODO. It comes back up in the middle of my main display, and then I have to move it over to the other display and maximize the viewport size, each time. Also, when bringing the preview viewport to the second display, the control toolbar doesn't go with it, it goes back to the top left corner of the main display.
I'm also getting some intermittent crashes when adding overrides still. Haven't been able to pin down what series of events is causing it, but it happens enough that I think about it before converting a material.

I am aware of this. The issue is if you unplug the second monitor, the Viewport will open off the screen and you will not be able to move it onto the single monitor. Perhaps there could be a "moveViewportToMainMonitor" command?

This is the first crash report I've had for a long time. If you can give me any more info I will try to track it down. We need to determine if it's OSX specific or not. Would be interesting to see if it occurs on Modo801. Does it happen with the Viewport open or closed or both?

Paul
Hi Paul, just got back from my honeymoon yesterday, so I haven't been around to look at this further. I will do some more crash testing this week. As for viewport location on a second display, perhaps a MODO preference checkbox to enable resetting viewport position on launch?
Yes Rick - I am trying to include Viewport Navigation in the next build - as what I expected to be trivial has turned into quite a complex task. I am still hopeful of a release in the next 12 hours.
Rick - I hit an issue with the OSX version of Octane and unfortunately was unable to get the latest plugin version for OSX out. I have escalate the issue to Otoy. Will let you know when there is a solution.
I have refreshed the installer at the top of this thread with:
NOTE: Viewport Navigation is NOT currently working on the OS X version of the plugin. Cocoa makes it impossible to access the mouse button states from within the plugin, so I need to assess if Viewport Navigation will be possible or not over the next week or so.
1.53.1.67
- When existing Viewport Navigation mode, a popup will give th eoption to transfer the Octane camera coords to Modo
- Added missing Viewport Navigation button icon to the installer
- Fixed issue with Viewport Navigation panning
- Improved Viewport Navigation rotating so it is less likely to roll the up vector
- Added Photometric light support (add Create Octane Emitter to the Photometric light panel)
- When using the Create Octane Emitter button function, the resulting created geometry has it's Modo Material Transparent Amount set to zero
- When using the Create Octane Emitter button function, the Modo light color is now used as the Octane emitter color.
- Added more horiztonal spacing between auto-generated nodes in the schematic
NOTE: In Modo801, after creating an emitter, the emitter material is NOT correctly selected in the Schematic - so you will need to select the correct material. This is a Modo801 issue which I am discussing with the Modo devs.
1.53.1.66
- Octane channels on the mesh for General Visibility, Camera Visibility and Shadow Visibility are now animate-able (if Load Animation Into Octane is UNTICKED)
- Fixed "Perspective Correction" label (which was showing as "Distortion")
- If Perspective Correction is on, the Octane Camera up vector will NOT track the Modo up vector and will instead be locked at a vector of 0, 1, 0
- If a mesh is "Live", enabling/disabling visibility will update the Viewport accordingly
- Added Viewport Navigation (Alt-LMB = rotate, Ctl-Alt LMB = zoom, Alt-Shift LMB = pan) - needs some fine-tuning
- Fixed problem where the materials in the Shader Tree which had an item tag which was the Group Locator rather than a Mesh Item were not being picked up correctly
- Fixed issue causing the Octane daylight to not track the Modo directional light
1.53.1.65
- Fixed issue where progressive save foldernames with spaces in them would result in progressive save not working
- Added "Preview" button to the Viewport toolbar
- Added "Perspective Correction" channel/pin to the Camera node
- Added option to reset Kernel and Camera settings to default (new button above the Save Settings as Defaults)
- Modo Materials which are luminous now convert to Octane Diffuse Emitters with the Emission power set to the Modo Luminous Intensity
- Modo Materials which convert to Octane specular materials will now transfer their transparency color into the Octane Transmission pin
1.52.0.64
- The plugin now works correctly with Modo801 (removed error popping up when opening the Viewport, and corrected the color conversions)
- Added Preference "Rightclick Viewport to open Control Panel" - enable to stop the Viewport Controls panel opened when the Viewport is open (and rightclick the viewprt instead to pop them up)
- Added the Viewport controls to the Setup panel
