Hi All,

I had the Octane Render working fine, I recently installed the updated plug in and Octnae will not show in DAZ any longer I am not sure why.

I am assuming i unzip in my DAZ folder and open DAZ and should be there?

Am I missing something?

The plug-in has it's own Pane (Under Window =>Panes(Tabs) =>Octane Render. When I installed it, it also added three icons to my main Viewport Toolbar (up top, to the right of Render Settings Icon), left to right, they display the OctaneRender plugin window, open the OctaneRender Viewport window, and cycle through auto-material settings. Not sure what you're talking about unzipping in the Daz folder, as the plugin is installed via executable file.

Hope this helped.

hi bpzen - do you still have troubles or is anything working now?
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

Hi,

The plugin is also no longer working for me. It says:

Plug-in failed to load!
Library could not be loaded. File is not a valid DAZ Studio plug-in, or was made for a different version of DAZ Studio.

I'm running DAZ Studio version 4.6.2.118 Pro (64-bit) and the latest plugin 1.2.120.3430 on Windows 8.1

Octane is running fine. I have both 1.2 as 1.5 installed.

Please help.

Thanks,

Dimitri

As a first step (this goes for Daz Studio plugins in general), did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin? Occasionally, you'll have to reboot before reinstall, though rarely in my experience. And from what I gather, the installation of the standalone has nothing to do with the plugin, just FYI.

I have a similar setup (but Win 7), and have no issues. I would have suspicions (not backed by any hard and fast evidence) about installing into the Program Files folder hierarchy. Windows (7 and, I believe especially, 8) can be a little picky about stuff loaded there.
Just in case you have a bum install, my copy of plordazs.dll is 14.7 MB (15,491,072 bytes) (for both size and size on disk).

My file size is identical (14.7 MB [15,491,072 bytes]), and my install location is identical to yours, wacky, although I am also running windows 7.

And since my plugin info looks like this for the same plugin in the same location:
OrDS_pluginstall.PNG
I would reiterate that you should consider re-downloading, uninstalling, perhaps rebooting, and re-installing the plugin.

Please, let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I uninstalled the plugin (deleted it from the folder, started Daz Studio and closed it again) and reinstalled it. Unfortunately it still doesn't work. I have the same file size as you have.

if you needed to install a previous plugin version manually, there might be older file versions somewhere - means the octane.dll version and the plordazs.dll versions do no longer match (or the plugin dll is loaded multiple times); usually this is the reason for the error message shown. or maybe the installer couldn't form some reason replace one of the files.

within the daz studio program folders there are 3 files needed; in the daz studio root dir:
octane.dll
octane.dat
vcomp100.dll

and in ...\plugins\OctaneRender
plordazs.dll
note: in the plugins folder itself there should be none of these.

if you manually delete them, plus make sure that no files of these names are anywhere in the daz studio program dirs, and run the installer once again, i'd give it a 99% chance...
