Hello all!!,

I have a macpro with nvidia 8800 GT, MAC OSX 1.6.3 installed and running at 64 bit. I have downloaded and installed nvidia toolkit but when I try to open octane it doesn't, it gives and error "this program can't run in this macos version".

is for my macos version? or because it's running at 64 bit and your app is 32 yet?.

I'll buy two nVidia GTX285 1GB mac edition soon, do you think this card is good for this soft?

Thanks and regards!

Hi,

You apparently don't have the cuda toolkit 3.0 installed.
you must install the cuda 3.0 drivers and cuda 3.0 toolkit prior to running octane render.

both are available here: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda ... loads.html

on the bottom of the page.
please also read the release notes (link is on the demo downloads page, it contains all this information)

cuda on OS X is 32bit only so we can't release any mac os X 64bit binaries until nvidia delivers new 64bit cuda toolkits/drivers.
sao i don't think it will happen anytime soon. (weeks, maybe months)

i recommend using octane on bootcamp with an x64 OS for now.

they are identical, the only problem with a 32bit software is the memory limit, so you can't load very large models.
this is due to nvidia, they have not released a 64bit version of cuda, i'm hoping the next cuda release will have it. (it's not mentioned in the 3.1 which is coming soon.)
