thank you for you for your input ROUBAL. I think you are right when it comes to HUUUUGE meshes. This one is "only" 7 gigs and loads pretty fast. It also works in previous versions. (1.33) so I was hoping it could work in 1.51 as well...

But I think an option to load alembic sequences would be a great addition to the alembic reader. (it cannot do that now, right?)
Hi,

How and when does Octane crash? Does it crash when you load the file? When you go to a different frame? How big is the file if you compress it to a ZIP file? Can you upload it to MEGA?

Great ORBX Export Features
Able to export from Maya and import to standalone.

If you export scene you can import the whole scene into the standalone and if you select the animated objects you can export an alembic file that has all the material inputs etc on it.

Here is my strange question that their may be more than one way to solve.

Is there a way to plug in the alembic file into a node in the scene file so all the materials in that node are hooked up automatically

i.e. the scene node comes with everything hooked up correctly except the animation
The alembic node has the mesh animating but no material hook ups

Can material animations i.e. strength of an emmission be animated in the stand alone? As it can in a plugin?

Thanks

Peter

I've notice that after a Turntable animation scripts is done, Octane becomes unresponsive, you might want to check that out.

It also happened to me with regular animation using alembic files. The render refused to restart. I don't remember if it happened each time though.

Is this definetly the last 1.5x release? I don't want to have to check back all the time and reinstall.
Thanks.

I couldn't reproduce any freeze over here, but you need to close the turntable animation window to be able to continue working in Octane.

It doesn't freeze, Octane still work but the render doesn't restart and the interface becomes unresponsive, even after I close the script window.

Ok, the script when it's done will pause the renderer, you have to click the start render button (the play symbol) to start rendering again.
