Can you look into the IES preview bug. To show example of what im talking about, I loaded the same IES image in the Efficiency and distribution channel however only the Efficiency channel shows the preview image whereas the distribution does not.

CONTROLS BUG(s)?

When I set the mouse control to Sketchup preset, as I have always done in Octane, it jumps to custom once I reopen the controls settings. I also get stilted / staggered behaviour when panning with the view 'jumping'. Finally get a zoom issue which I've had before but I think in R1.2 this was controlled by recentering the view, which does not seem to help in R1.5.

To me view-control seems buggy in 1.5. Are these bugs? Any advice?

Thanks,
Seeker

OCTANE FORGETS GPU DEVICE SETTINGS...

I use a Quadro to drive my screen & for other apps. When I disable it in Octane, the setting is not retained in 1.5. Could you guys fix this please so I don't have to disable my Quadro each time I run Octane?

Thanks!

Are you talking of Octane Standalone? I switch GPUs on and off all the time and it works for me. So it should work. The settings are stored in %APPDATA%\OctaneRender\preferences_v2. Could you check, that the settings are updated correctly?

Sorry, don't chase ghosts, the preview does work, it all depends on the IES file. Some files work but most of the files I tried did not produce an image

@Tugpsx : I confirm that there is an abnormal behaviour of the preview of the IES : if the IES image doesn't appear, just select the other display mode (round or square image) and the preview is refreshed and displays the image of the IES !

Standalone (though we've had some issues with plugins too).
I'm away from the office now for 2 weeks... Will double check & confirm when back.

All I am doing is using an HDRI background to light the scene, and either have it be the background too, or separately composite it on having used the shadow catcher to get a ground shadow. However, if there is any glass in the object that reflects the ground, it reflects the object's diffuse channel, and if there is any glass that you can see the ground object through, same problem. The workaround would see to be fine, if I could figure out how to do the same in LW, but I was more thinking that it is something that could/should be built into the matte object (or at least an option t).

Problem can be seen in this example.
We are limiting the matte effect to the first bounce (starting at the camera) only, since after the first bounce the environment aligned with the camera doesn't make much sense anymore. To get correct reflections / refractions you would then have to camera project the background on some place holder geometry. We could add a kernel option to not restrict the matte effect to the first bounce only. Would that work for you?
I don't know if it will work as I don't understand the answer

All I want is to be able to either/both see the hdri reflected and refracted through specular material. The workaround is fine, but for standalone only. There needs to be a fix for this so that that fix transfers to the plugin.
I haven't had any response to this, which I think is a bug. If you don't think it is a bug, I have put a feature request about how the matte objects work. Since I wasn't getting any response about my one request in here (procedurals), I have created my own thread about my requested features. While it has had a response form Juan (the Lightwave plugin developer), I am still awaiting any response from the development team.

I really need to repeat my previous assertion that not having features you think are important is one thing, however, not getting any response form the development team about what they think of the requested features is far worse.
