Hi Paul,

Could you tell me what the 1.2 environment mapping/lighting defaults were in 1.2 that can be applied to 1.5?

I'm trying to replicate/migrate the scene lighting (using an HDRI) from 1.2 to 1.5, and having a difficult time...(my hdri values (at least rotational) were lost when updating the rhino plugin)

Especially for the following:
-was the previous mapping "box" in 1.2? (seems closer to my previous lighting)
-should I use "global" or "per object" coordinates to keep the same values as 1.2?
-should texture coordinates rotation order be "xyz"?
-which rotational "slot" should I use to replicate 1.2: Should I use "transform" rotation or "projection" rotation to "match" 1.2?
-which border mode should I use to replicate 1.2? (wrap-around?)
-have any other values changed for the HDRI lighting from 1.2 to 1.5?

Thank you!
Nathan

Hi Nathan

To rotate the Octane Texture Environment in Octane 1.5, change to the Projection to Spherical. Pls see "IBL Rotation" in the manual (I just updated today) http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Rhino/?page_id=466.
-should I use "global" or "per object" coordinates to keep the same values as 1.2?
Doesn't matter for the environment.
-should texture coordinates rotation order be "xyz"?
Doesn't matter.
-which border mode should I use to replicate 1.2? (wrap-around?)
The environment doesn't use border mode unless the image has been scaled down.

Paul,

Excellent--thank you so much!

(I just finished a large rendering project using the Octane/Rhino plugin and the client loved it. Life is so easy with this plugin--thank you!!!)

Best regards,
Nathan
