Hi,

not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot get
proper alpha on a plane.
Its just jpg of a row of trees and the corresponding alpha (also a jpg),
which I put in the "opacity" slot as Image Texture (Type "Alpha")

I cannot get the bg stamped out correctly.

any help?

thanks
Mike

An alpha map on a jpeg file ?
The "opacity" slot as Image Texture needs to be on Type "Float" (or normal).

Hi,

no, one color jpg is the image and a second b/w jpg is for alpha.
But I thought, the mode "alpha" is meant for alphas.

It works with other images, but not with these. Hmm.
Its a 6.000 px image (I forgot to make it smaller).
Maybe thats the problem

thanks

"alpha" means that using the alpha of image file, "float" means that using as grayscale.
So leave as normal for jpegs, if you want to use alpha's choose alpha. It's easy to check the results with some images

Best,
Ahmet

The mode alpha is for using the alpha channel of a .tiff or .png file (maybe another file format are supported now, i don't know). For a .jpeg file in greyscale, the most logical mode is float.
