Ok, I have this huge problem and I feel like I'm screwed...
I need to render a very heavy animation, the scene is full of alembic files, and there is one object, a human hair, that has an animation, the alembic file of the hair is 40 GB, so very big.
If I try to render the scene normally, it works, no problem. But as soon as I use the script "Render exported animation", Octane crashes, not always at the same point, sometime it crashes after few minutes in the render, sometimes immediately. Keep in mind that the compiling for the hair takes nearly 35 seconds every frame, but that seems to be fine when I render single images, but as soon as I use the script, Octane crashes.
I cannot send the scene because the files are huge, and I have a deadline next week, so I'm shitting myself now, because I have no idea how to fix this...

I tried different things:
- export a smaller cache of hair, like only 10 frames of animations, but still crash
- apply a very simple material to the hair, still crash
- render a smaller resolution, like 480p, still crash
- render ONLY the hair, and nothing else, still crash

Please note that if I remove the hair, the script works fine, so the hair + animation script are the problem.
My GPU are 2 GTX670 with 2GB, may be a memory problem?
What does the script differently from the normal render?

Please help!

Tried in Octane 1.36, 1.37 and the new 1.50, all the same problem

Does it always crash while rendering the first frame of the animation? Did you install version 1.50 using the installer or did you just unpack the content of the installer? (Background: The installer sets the TdrLevel and TdrDelay in the registry to make sure that Windows doesn't kill the graphics driver if a kernel call takes longer than usual)

Yes, I never managed to pass the first frame, and yes, I installed the version 1.50 from the installer.
Again, I would like to stress the fact that I can render successfully if I render a normal single frame, it crashes just when I use the script.

Wait, by saying "first frame" do you mean the very first frame on the alembic? If that, no, it doesn't matter, I tried to start the script from different frames, and it always crashes, independently of what frame I'm rendering.

No I meant the first frame that is rendered. The problem could be anything most likely either Lua or something in the Alembic import. The main difference to the non-script rendering is that the script creates a copy of the scene into another root node graph and that it's a script running with LuaJIT adding an additional layer of complexity.

The best thing would be if you could send us the Alembic hair scene (reduced to 2 frames and compressed) so that we can try to reproduce it. I sent you a PM.
