Hi!
i was trying to use a custom matte plane as a render region mask.

but i can't let the plane not receiving shadows.

it seems that octane now supports the "cast shadow" check in object property but not for the "receive shadow" one.

why does the shadow matter? i thought it´s only a region render mask.

i tried exactly the same thing a few months ago but did not see any significant speed gain...?
what is your experience?

because shadow casting means the matted area are still sampled by gpu, that's why you didn't see much speed gain.
i want it to be more like a bypass shader.

and if i set the opacity of the matte to zero, strange thing appears:
