I would've posted this in the MODO plugin sub forum, but I'm not a licensed user yet. Need an integrated plugin first ;)

1) Will there be a demo version of the MODO plugin on release?
2) I understand there will be an OSX version a little while after the initial Windows release, and that the standalone license can be moved between platforms. Will the MODO plugin be the same? Meaning I'll be able to purchase the plugin for Windows (for testing purposes) and then freely move it to OSX (for actual work) when that version becomes available? I'm pretty sure this is the case, just wanted to double check.

Thanks for your help. It's getting close to the end of February, so I'm getting excited!

Hi Riggles

The demo will be available 3-4 weeks after the initial release. From release day onwards you will also be able to view to on-line manual and "Getting Started" video though.

The plugin license can be used with Windows or (when it becomes available OSX). You will need to de-activate one in order to activate the other.
so I'm getting excited!
Me too!

I'm guessing the same applies to the standalone version? Meaning I wouldn't be able to test the standalone/plugin in Windows and then try just the standalone in OSX without deactivating the standalone license in Windows first?

Correct.

You can also export from the Modo plugin in ORBX format, which is a single file containing all meshes, texturemaps, materials, etc. So you can have one copy of the plugin on the Mac, put the scene together and tweak it until you want to do a final render, then export to ORBX format and copy to the Windows box and load into Octane Standalone for rendering. The would need one plugin license and two Standalone.

I'd actually be doing the opposite, but same principle. I don't do any work in Windows, don't even have a Boot Camp partition (yet). But considering that I don't know how long it would take for an OSX plugin for MODO to ship, I'd like to start testing it sooner rather than later. Not sure it's worth buying two standalone licenses just so I can export an ORBX from Windows so I can render in OSX, but that's something I'll have to decide on.

Thanks again Paul. I appreciate your presence over in The Foundry forum, too, to keep us up-to-date.
