Hi everybody.

Radiance asked me to write an Octane exporter for CINEMA 4D and post a notice in this forum.

I have already started on it. It will be available for C4D R9.6 - 11.5 on Mac and PC, 32 and 64 bit. As soon there is something usable, I will post a version in this forum.

Until then, happy rendering :)

The first cut of the UI is finished and I'm working on the actual scene export (as you all know, the C4D OBJ export is not really useful for Octane). I hope to be able to release a first version this week or on the weekend the latest.

Cheers,
Marcus

If I can give you a hand with graphical/interface parts, just let me know.

Very Cool! I bought Octane the day it came out, not really expecting to get much pro usage out of it for a while, since I animate for my daily crust.

Had no idea that there was even going to be a C4D exporter so I am very excited at the prospect  Hopefully animation options will be in an early build?

Thanks, that's very kind. The UI is done so far and follows the Octane guidelines and looks like that:

The top box "Project Configuration" is done and I'm currently working on the "Export - Frame" box ;) Everything inbetween will be attacked when that is done.

There is not a lot of room for creativity as the goal is for all 3D apps to have one manual and one workflow for the export to Octane. This makes sense to keep the necessary support at a low level. I'm pretty sure there will be better and more convenient solutions in the future, but for now let's focus on that and see how far we get and how well it works.

Cheers,
Marcus
