For what did you use it?

i copied the nodes attached to the render target to reattach to my own. i make multiple targets and the software i wrote automates the render process (creates render passes for each scene in a subfolder) i did however figure out the answer to my question... i just copied the default render target and get the same results. i am sure this process can be scripted, just dont know how with lua nor have the time to learn it at the moment. So i fell back on visual basic and wrote what i needed.

Thanks!

Hi, Is support for some cards added later or have you dropped support for GT 330M ?

Just wondering as I have not used (or kept up with the stand alone version of) Octane Render much since buying the Daz Studio, Poser & Blender integrated versions

I mainly use my desktop but would be a shame to waste a 2nd license that I brought for use on my laptop with a card that may no longer be supported?

Thanks :)

I think the GT 330M is too old. Check the Cuda devices in the preferences, it will tell you the compute model of the card and if it's too old.

Edit: See the 1.21 announcement, we dropped support for cards with compute model 1.x.

So I have to stick with 1.20 for the rest of my life on my laptop :(
Or, buy a new computer (financially not possible this year) and transfer my 2nd license to that if I want to make use of the Alembic Exporter for DAZ Studio & animation in Octane Render SA

Good job I have a desktop but pretty peeved that I have brought a 2nd license that had a 'best before/use by' shelf life that's over now

The thing that really gets me here is that I brought a 'product' that worked on my system at the time, with the promise that features could only get better as you work towards a final release..

Yet (through no fault of my own) I will not be able to use the final product (that worked upon purchase!)..

You see where I am going with this...
Just hope support for my 660Ti is not next on the hit list !
:(

Thanks for the reply Roeland :)

Yeah it is unfortunate, but it's just not possible to add any features beyond what we have on 1.10 while still supporting these old cards. The 660Ti is a compute model 3.0 card, this one will still be supported for a long time.

Yah, I get that & I do still have one system left to use Octane Render SA on. I don't wish to sound offensive as I think you guys are doing amazing stuff and I love my Otoy product family, just cant help feeling like I have just been kicked in the nuts and been told not to cry about life

It feels like I brought a second license just to experience an extended DEMO/TRIAL version for a little while with nothing to show for it but an out dated version (for my laptop anyway) which all my other products (such as OcDs, Poser plugin & OctaneBlender) will slowly loose support for as they move towards this version. I have spent a lot of money on Otoy products, for each product I brought for my desktop I brought another copy for my laptop. Buying for my desktop was the best investment I ever made (regarding software) BUT, the WORST regarding software for my laptop

While I completely understand the need to 'move on', I SERIOUSLY regret buying a 2nd license now :)

It works. The important bit is that if you specify the argument "-n <.ocs file path>" you must not specify the OCS file as last parameter again. For example:

Code: Select all

"P:\releases\1.26\OctaneRender_1_26_win64\octane.exe" -n "D:\temp\test.ocs" -m "test" -l "D:\temp\test_files\test.obj"
I just tried it with the C4D exporter and it works.
OK, I will try that, thanks.

Is there no way, even externally, to upgrade the vid card on your lappy?

Funny you should say that GordonRobb (Many thanks for the reply btw)..

I was looking in to something like this:
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.a ... s+notebook

I would not want all that 'mess' around so would prob make an enclosure (fan cooled) to keep things safe & tidy :D

Might be worth a shot!, given the TIGHT budget my wife & kids leave me with!
