You can open the first Rhino scene, setup all the materials, save all the Octane materials as "Defaults" (this is a one click process), load the second scene and combine the first scene with it and it will apply all the defaults that you saved in the first scene. Ideally you will have a library of Rhino materials for your library of parts, and there will be saved Octane materials for each of those materials - so it should work very well. This is covered in the "Getting Started" video - http://vimeo.com/73202740. The plugin is in beta, and this is an area which is likely to be refined over the beta period. Will I be able to combine models from two different Rhino files into one, and preserve the material settings from the individual models?
What I hope to do is have a library of parts that are setup with materials, so that I don't have to reassign materials every time I want to render a different product configuration.
