Hello,
I just bought octane plugin for 3ds Max, and soon I intend to upgrade my graphics card (gtx 560) for a better one. My bugdet is about 450€ and I have some indecisions about the 780gtx and the 770gtx, one has 1536 cores at 1046 mHZ and the other has 2304 cores at 863Mhz. The price diference is about 150€ (780gtx more expensive). My question is it worth buying the 780gtx, will it have more significant rendering power than the 770gtx?
Regards
Miguel

770 cores = 1536
780 cores = 2304
780ti cores = 2880
going from a standard 770 to a 780 your talking 768 more cores... thats a pretty good jump.
just bought a 780ti and it breezes through renders (avg scene at 3000x3000 @ 4000 samples takes anywhere from 2min - 15 min depending on scene complexity)

In the mean time spend your 450$ on 2x GTX 580/3GB !!!!!
Check http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gef ... 16-26.html
2 x GTX 580 is way faster than one GTX 780! And it also comes with 3GB of VRAM.
Search ebay, there are many GTX 580´s available, most of them with 1,5 GB, but also a couple of 3GB.
With a bit of luck, for 450$ you can get even 3 of them....

I've just find out that my computer chassis can only takes graphic cards on maximum of 270 mm, 780ti is impossible to fit my computer
I am considering buying 2 GTX 670 2gb, less consuming than 770 gtx and have 1344 cores. Maybe I won't need to replace my PSU.
Thanks

.. I'm browsing ebay for those cheap deals.. no way.. people always outbid to 250$ or something.. what's up with that, there was only few ones that were around 150 and had 1.5 gigs .. prices are ridiculous in someplaces like 800$ +..
.. and another point being - what the hell with nvidia - CUDA cores mean nothing now for us - two year of new technology and no speedup 2000+ cuda cores on titan are the same as 100 cores on 5xx series - only optimisations on heat and memory, weak
- nvidia is doing the best it can to earn the most through the gaming community - which is crap for us - but they did give us the cuda to play with, why, what's up with that nvidia? Not even the mega expensive "professional" cards are any faster..
- 99% of their customers are probably gamers
- you can read professional as mega expensive that's all
