The composition is good. Just boost up the light and make it a bit more friendly and sparkling.
The render is very dark. Also I would try a different an lighter background.

thanks for the feedback! I am thinking about either in the hdri or the scene adding "tree lights" to reflect off of everything. i need to also re-calibrate my monitor, it looked much brighter at home (at work comp atm)
