Hello, I'm having a lot of trouble getting the standard octane light to work. I've tried everything I can think of.
The daylight system works though.
I'd really appreciate any help.
Here's a picture of what I'm talking about: http://i.imgur.com/K13JU1a.png
EDIT: I've been doing more tests. It seems that it is not producing any direct light. I can scale down the scene and pump the light power the whole way up, and turn up the camera exposure to see the seen. But with the power cranked to max it's still dim and takes a VERY long time to converge/render. In the 3DS Max demo it's super fast, and the lights work fine.
*I'm working on a purchased version of Octane for Maya.
Octane light not emitting? Scene is 100% dark

Hi JimStar
I can confirm something has happened to Octane light nodes. Attached is a simple scene with an octane light node set to geo type plane and 1x1 units in size and with the default emission settings along side a 1x1 unit poly plane with a black diffuse material and a black body emitter attached with the same emission settings as the light node. These should effectively be identical lights but the poly plane emitting geo renders as expected and the octane light doesn't illuminate. Even if you turn the power of the octane light node to 10000 it barely casts any light.

So it's been a while, any word on when this will be fixed?
yes, latest update, 3.06.4 -4.41, I am having this same problem. I am running a Quadro M1000M off of a Mobile Studio Pro 16".
I turned up the exposure settings in both camera and kernel, along with the octane light power settings to the absolute max. I can scarcely see even a glow. I eventually got it to work, by turning up the exposure and power settings. But somehow.. after resetting my ENU folder to fix interface issues with 3ds max, I am back to square one.. even with all my settings maxed out.

Hi, Blackyard,
Please retry with the latest stable version here [ viewtopic.php?f=109&t=63414 ]
Which Octane light are you using? Check the Distribution parameter on Octane Texture emission, the default value is 0.
Kind Regards
