We were hoping to get it out this month (i.e. this week), but there are still quite a few issues to weed out so I'm not too sure if we get it done until this week. But if not this week then very likely next.
The last week is over. This week is "in the middle". Still no release! After that comment Marcus, me and many others thought a release would come? Ok you said, VERY likely next week. Again, this week is in the "middle". Can we expect a release as you pronounced or will it again be moved backwards? 161 days without ANY release! 161 days since 1.20 was released. Its Time Octane Guys.......it´s TIME! We all wanna see what you did, in nearly half a year.

YES! Thats the kind of support we are looking for! A Plugin Developer saying, calm down or leave, if you are getting impatient after 160+ plays of...............nothing :-). Cool! Hey face, wish you a merry christmas too!

Gonna go now and play a bit. I am not sure if you would like, with what i am playing with!

At first, i haven´t say you should leave. A calm down will also expand your livetime ;)

What i would say with it, wait a little bit more. You can see that there are updates on which they are working on.
This release has massive changes, much more under the hood as you can see. The chance to find a bug under this circumstances is realy high.
This affects also the SDK which is sometimes updated daily.

Got to agree with Face. I have no idea why people start pulling their hair out and ranting when they can't get their shiny new toys. Software takes time to write. Quite often you think something is perfect only to find a big hole that needs filling.

Just be patient and have a few games of spider solitaire or something.

Maybe it's just me but I thought the response indicated the distinct presence of a sense of humor and I am splitting a gut.

Having worked in software development in a previous life I suspect we'll see a delay of a little bit as software schedules are notoriously difficult to meet.

On the other hand if it gets to Christmas and there hasn't been a beta yet then give us the buggy shit!!! (with buttons that have popups that say "this piece doesn't work yet loser!!!" :D

Ok, a quick update on where we stand: The plan was to release SA version 1.21 today, but we just finished working through our to-do list Friday evening. There has also been a last-minute decision to switch to a different package format. So Monday it will be then, with the following caveats:
  • We will have to disable packaging until we have switched to the new file format. That also means storing materials in the LiveDB will not be possible.
  • Currently daylight and turntable animation will be disabled since we didn't update them to the new node system and we plan to replace them with Lua scripts anyway.
  • Animation import via Alembic is still heavy under construction so what we will release on Monday will not be fully functional and we will make it more complete and usable over the next releases.
Over the past weeks, we have been releasing preview versions for the plugin devs and although it was a massive change, it seems that porting to the new API didn't cause too much trouble. So my hope is that plugin releases based on SDK 1.21 are not too far away either.

Cheers,
Marcus
