Hey guys!
Is some of you using onboard graphics card for display, and the GPUs only for rendering?

If it is possible how do you configure it?

Cheers!

Hi slepy8

Those usually suck - pretty bad.. weak as all hell... And if you want to fire up Metro: Last Light or something after a hard days work, you would need to shut down, move hdmi or vga over to GPU, fire windows back up... zoinks!

I would (and do) just take either the display GPU down to Low Priority or both to Medium.. at Medium (where I usually keep both - unless doing an animation render), mine render at 90% and still leaves enough juice to not slow display to crawl... My experience is that I can still use PS, AI etc.. though, not AE, while rendering.

Edit: you do have 3 double-slot PCI-E on your mobo... you should pick up a used 460 or something on eBay or Craigslist for display...

I'm using 3570k with iGPU to feed my monitor (1920x1080) & GTX670 to render =) just plug Your monitor in the mobo output and that's it =) it should start running =) don't know if any installation is needed, but probably it's a good idea to take a look what is provided in CD that came with Your motherboard - though usually the software is dated..

try to play around and if nothing happens - drop a line ,we'll try to help You =)

cheers

* never had any issues, works flawlessly, unless I start messing with huge scenes of something like MARI..

igpu`s are o.k. for viewport, but complex scenes definately kill it. in your bios be sure to set the igpu as primary adapter, if not, you wont be able to get a signal if the monitor is hooked to the gpu. not all motherboards have that option though.

Gents!

It works perfectly!!

@Frank Polle - I don't play games so I don't give a sh... t ;)

@Glimpse - I use two 1680X1050 monitors, and honestly everything works just awesome. Only needed to download diovers for iGPU and - thanks @wehersmy - needed to enable iGPU in BIOS.

Now I can normally work and have rendering on 99% of my cards in the background, and all's smooth and not problematic :)

Cheers!
thanks alot!
