in the current version the only way to do it is to save one or more (then unlinked) octane materials into an (probably empty) daz scene (i.e. into the content manager), and merge it back later (or just drop it from the content manager)...Elele wrote:So how can I save a material?

Ok, thanks
The clay render option, does it only work for certain lights?

mmh, i don't exactly know how you mean this... clay rendering just switches any material to a default (diffuse) material. this means it is not connected to the environment (sun/hdri), but if you have mesh lights, in other words light emitting materials connected to geometries, the will be also replaced by the default/clay mat, thus no longer emitting light.Elele wrote:Ok, thanks

if it might be useful to sometimes keep emitting mats and only switch all others to clay, i'll put it on my todo list...

Ah that makes sense, it is for the emitting materials. That would indeed be a pretty handy function!t_3 wrote:mmh, i don't exactly know how you mean this... clay rendering just switches any material to a default (diffuse) material. this means it is not connected to the environment (sun/hdri), but if you have mesh lights, in other words light emitting materials connected to geometries, the will be also replaced by the default/clay mat, thus no longer emitting light.Elele wrote:Ok, thanks

When I merge 2 scenes with the same objects, the materials get unlinked. Is that normal? Is there a way to turn it off?

Merging scenes is something that the plugin does not like very much at the moment. I think it is a known limitation/bug/feature...Elele wrote:When I merge 2 scenes with the same objects, the materials get unlinked. Is that normal? Is there a way to turn it off?

So I wanted to try the Tony skin from the library (caus it's awesome), but When I download it to DS the program crashes. It works fine in the stand alone version.
So I tried rebuilding the shader in DS, but I get very different results. Is there some error going on somewhere?

Howdy again
Really digging the post effects in the program. Is there a way to open a finished render to apply/modify the post effects?
Also really digging that I can render without any slowdown on the PC. I can't seem to open two DS programs at the same time anymore though, I think the plugin doesn't allow that. Is there a way to shut this off?

For the two DS to open. Just make a copy of the DAZ studio installation folder and remove the Octane Plugin from the copied folder. Then you will be able to run two instances of DS where one will use the plugin and the other will not.
Hope it helps
