incremental saving

Hello.
I was rendering a 12 hours calculation when we had a problem with the eletcicity and I lost 8 hours of rendering.(we have lots of problems with electricity where I live) So I was wondering if there would be any way to have an option to save incremental images while the rendering keeps going (which can be done manualy)something like "automaticly save incremential image every xxx minutes"
That could come handy as well to be able to check the rendering from a distant computer, from home, etc.

Now you can save the current image without stop rendering with the option available in the preview window.

Yes, I know that. I was thinking about an automatic saving, something that works without you beeing there and doing It manualy. Like It would save every x minutes / hours an incremental image (or just overwrite the previous image) That would be an option "autosave image every 20 minutes" for instance.

Well, saving the render buffer -to continue with- may be be a bit of problematic for Juan in my opinion.
I just bought a big UPS to prevent such interruptions.

it could be a real hot tool.

i remember Fprime could save the image with a data form. And restart the rendering after a crash.

even if i think octane can t do that , i suppose an incremental image saving could be a middle solution.
if the image is not really nice after a delay of rendering , i don t know the utility of that, but, in certain cases, could be very usefull.

but what we know is even lightwave render don t do that. could be a great tool inside octane.

I have the same problem.
I used to use Maxwell R before Octane; it was doing the incremental saving automaticaly and it is very precious.
It seems to me that I saw this function in the rhinoceros plug-in (save the picture each ___ min), and I was surprised it did not exist in the standalone.

That could be a good thing for the next version of Octane!

I will add this feature in the 1.5 release if possible.

Yeap, I used Fprime from the beginning and that was terribly usefull! Good to know that there is a way to get It in the Octane-Lightwave plugin.
Thank you Juanjgon!

juanjo, do you think it is possible to create a temporary data file which maps the rendering?
FPrime created a sort of backup image files, and when rendering was not successful, we could re calculat the same image at the time of writing of this buffer.

it look like complicated to put in place, but may be your skill could be seen as a solution. and become a very powerful and original element of lightwaveoctane.
