Hy guys, a little off-topic discussion, i'm seriously considering to buy the dell U3014 monitor...but i hate the price!
The point is currently i have a 2 screen setup off 2 21 inch monitors, i am thinking about going back to 1 screen and buy something with a good color reproduction (since my screens today lack this...) and good screen real estate...
First i was thinking buying the dell U2713, a 27 inch monster but now i consider the 30 inch setup but the price diff. is almost double...
Wat do you guy's think and wat is you're set-up at home or work for 3dwork and rendering-photoshop...is good color reproduction important for you (do you calibrate you're screen 4 example?)
Regards,
Poly
Wath monitor set-up you use...

go IPS/SPVA, TN-panels are utter crap (though cheaper)

bought cheap 23" /basic model with no addons or extras, but good panel/ monitor a year ago =) picked IPS with good factory calibration =) tried to calibrate /do own spyder pro/ but seen no diff at all =) seriously thinkin' about second one' but I believe it's not time at all for big one - prices will drop significantly after more companies are going to enter the market, so at least in my eyes it's better to have second or even third one for splitting You programs across than buying big one.. unless You're working on huge resolutions and need that real estate.
in the end all comes down to Your needs & budget =)

Yeah, at the moment i like being able to use my monitors, working on one using the other for referencing material or looking up a tutorial, but i kinda hate the bezel and bad color reproduction....the 30inch has a lot more pixels (2560x1600) but i'm scared if it can replace my two screens....off. listed for 1524euro but you can find it at 1007 euros...still steep i think!

After a year of using a Dell U2713HM I often think buying two 24's would have been better.
In your case, if you're considering the 30, I'd say buy two 27's for that price and you're set!

I have two 27's at work and it's a good combo.

Are you happy with your Dell U2713HM ? I'm planning to get one, but there are all sorts of opinions about it.

I got the U3014 and it's not good. I have exchanged it 3 times now but all of them had the same "scanline error".

I have that 27" dell one.. and a 24" dell..and I agree with the theory that two smaller monitors are better than a huge one..
- my other setup is a 24 dell and a 22 inch (peace of crap 22" monitor, just to have toolbars and preview windows) .. I can notice a difference between a 27" and a 24" only when I really dig into.. say zbrush.. it just seems like it has that much more meat on it .. mind you the 27 one has 2560x1440 res, and the 24 one has a 1920x1080..
- basically a two monitor setup beats one, probably because your brain separates them as different entities and you have two desktops instead of one, and now I really hate working on a single monitor (but using youtube/facebook/interwebz doesn't bother me at all if it's ipad iphone, pc..)
.. also I know I have seen studies actually saying, that 24" is about the perfect size - going above that decreases usability
- don't know about that, but when I added a 3rd monitor, I found myself turning my head too much, and in the end ignoring the third monitor..
.. basically a two monitor setup, either a 24" or 27" seems to be the best match
