This is an unusual post. This is an example of a method I am working on to use Realflow, Octane, and C4D to create meshes of patients organs and pathologies based on computer tomography data of the patient. In this first example I used Realflow to mesh a particle cloud I created from an optical coherence tomography data set of a patients retina. The patient has a vitreo macular traction, which can lead to strong vision problems. The mesh was then rendered in real-time on a GPU using octane for Cinema 4d. The original particle cloud was created inside cinema 4d using x-particles. The Real flow mesher was used because it creates meshes with the highest polygon integrity and with the least amount of polygons at the fastest speed. This is necessary if this is to be useable in a clinical setting. The research benefit of this method is the possibility to create intensity ranged based volume meshes instead of just ortho plane meshes. This in turn results in the possibility of applying physical properties for simulation.

very nice images and interesting usage of plugin. I'm glad to see different usages. I suppose you set a specular material with medium. Right?

Actually, it consits of two interwoven meshes with a mixed glossy/specular material.

Very interesting use of Octane indeed.
