One or two ideas....
Do you have this problem in the maya viewport also when playing the animation?

If yes

Maybe you have a gimball lock on the camera. Do you animate your camera or a group above.

- THe best way would be to animate a group above the camera for the translate and animate the camera only in rotation. MAke also sure your rotate order is correctly set.

If no

- check the placement options in the octane parameters of the camera. I don't exactly remember which is the parameter but it causes slips of the camera gate I think. Check if there is any kind of animation.

THere, it was my 2 cents.

Thanksfor yoru reply

No problem in Maya playback or playblast or maya render

Only appropriate Transform and rotation nodes are animated and I checked each frame and they are clean as they move. i.e. no stuttering of values in rotate x which is the only rotating occurring

Could not find a placement or gate option... in the octane camera att editor... do you know where it is if there is ?

Jim Star.. is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks

Given this it does sound like an issue between Maya and Octane. What is your scene scale. Very small? Very large? Is your camera grouped/constrained? Try to look for anything that may be different from scenes that work. Try changing things (one at a time and reverting before trying the next) to try and narrow down the issue.

I have seen something like this posted on the forum before, I can't remember if it was you or not but if it wasn't you do a search as they may have figured it out already.

Thanks for the tips.
Tried the one at a time thing.
Buuuut... it could be a scene size thing... because it is a zoom in from a ways away... when I am close of the pipes I am rotating around a small area... I might try enlarging it all as a group then ungroup and see what I get...

Good call

Yep that was me that had that problem before... I rendered with V-Ray as Octane for Maya was still in baby steps : > )

Thanks I'll post if size helps it. It might be that I just need to expand the animation timeline too to give more frames between the camera rotation... but the fact that Maya ani does ok makes me think this is probably not it and it is size related as that seems to be something octane continually has issues with.

Thanks for the extra brain power

Well exported all the mesh into a new file and entered just the animation values from the corrupt scene's camera and it worked OK.
I scaled it as well and both the scaled and unscaled scenes in the fresh camera file worked OK

I reckon the camera went "rouge" on me.

Jim Star would you stll like to get a copy of the stuttered file? 550 megs 8-)

Thanks

Yep, I think it may be usable anyway... Perhaps something can be made in plugin to catch such a corrupted file situations...
