Hey all,
I'm still budgeting for a render rig and saw this gem when looking for a good CUDA card:
https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus
GeForce GT 640 (GDDR5) 3.5 Compute capability
This rivals even the TITAN for under 100$ - although it is limited to 1GB!?!? I think this could be a typo but who knows?
Anyone know if the compute capability listed on NVidia's site translates to real world speed? Anyone has this card who can do some benchmarks? If Octane can really perform on this card like a Titan... wow.

The compute capability is referring to the feature set that the card supports, and not the rendering speed. You need to search for some benchmarks to compare this against the Titan (but my guess is it will be many times slower).
