well with my new grass plane i got rid of most of the most obvious tiling, but it is still not a perfect outcome due to the lack of big scale Variance...
Yeah, no kidding, I've been amazed by how fast DL with AO is. DL with Diffuse definitely gives a more realistic result than AO but of course with the trade off of time. However, I've been playing lately with using DL with AO and some of the camera response curves to liven up the more gray look resulting from the AO. In fact, I sent a client a couple of weeks ago a rendering using DL with Diffuse and the same image using DL with AO and the PORTA 800 camera response and the client prefered the AO with the camera response over the Diffuse.
