I've decided to do a new build after I had trouble getting 3 gpus (2-Titans & 1 660ti) working with a Gigabyte X79S-UP5. The cards fit in, but were really tight, and their fans went full blast. I've heard that MSI makes a decent MB. I've only used Gigabyte & Asus for past builds.
I may also be water cooling the cards (they were getting a little toasty 75C - 80C).
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

hi, ArtDude12.
first of all, You got a nice board =) there's no reason to upgrade. but if You need any advice, drop an amount You're willing to spend & programs You're using =) everything starts there.
as for problems..we'll from first glance the board suports three way sli, and of course three cards. Overall it has server chip inside..and might have some issues, but that's a decent mobo.
What I would advice, is to get rid slowest card and leave Your system with Titans on 16x slots..- this should work perfectly.
as Octane has sort of 'priority box' for display =)You can actually do some work without feeling any lag while cards are rendering. Considering 6GB of vram, any screen configuaration shouldn't limit Your scenes size and so..
as for temperature. well - if You haven't touched the card with some software.. this is pretty normal - Titan is targeted ~80C..so let's say if it is runing full load 0n 70.. it will overclock itself to meet that temperature target.
so 80C is good temp, don't worry 'bout it. Guys saw more than 95 with 590s..that's something to think about. Titan manages heat very good.
as for the heat..one more thing - You need to have good airflow. possitive preasure /preventing dust/ and pushing air into every part. this is achieved by getting more fans that blow inside the case than those that blow out. And don't forget to dust filter them, otherwise You Ts will get stuffed soon.
if You still rather build new rig - drop a line what You would like to achieve, what is Your budget & so.
alternativelly if You have enough space in Your case, You could get a water loop inside & that will keep Your Titans ~40C /if You will have enough rads =) but that's not cheep, and fro rigs with les than 3-4 cards is not the best deal from value standpoint =)
cheers

Hi glimpse,
Thanks for the advise.
The temps of the GPUs had me the most concerned.
I've never done a build with custom water cooling, so maybe I will hold off for now.
My current box is a Corsair 650D with stock fans except for the top mounted Corsair H100i,
with fans blowing out.
Many thanks again!
