I have a problem to run octane blender plugin.
I've downloaded octane srver, and blender octane edition.
Then, I instaled software. First I run octane server, then blender, entered login and password, and nothing hapend.
No errors, nothing...
I double checked login and password.
octane server is switching off after few seconds with no error.
Is it a bug, or I am doing something wrong?

Of course i have activated stand alone version.

I tried on 2 machines
there was about 3 hours passed before second attempt.
I deactivated accounts via web.

can you help me to run octane inside blender?

Marcin
Hi Marcin.

This is a freshly installed octane server/blender combo? If yes launch octane server from the windows command line and you get an error msg about a missing dll. You can install one of the microsoft redist.

Yes, it is frash installed. I will try to run from cmd and I will post if any error will occur.

EDIT:

Working!!!

I've launched octane server from command line, there was no error, and it started...
Great.

Thanks!

Sorry guys for some delay with new versions, I'm just working on LiveDB now... There is a lot of work to integrate it proper way into Blender...;)

LiveDB = meh, not much useful stuff there because it has no quality control

LocalDB would be a much more useful feature

@Matej : I totally agree !

For my own, I never used the live DB for other than studying material structure. It takes me less time to build my own exact required material using my own texture, than trying to tweak a live DB existing material not allowing to extract/save/edit its texture.

A local DB would be much more useful imho !

I use the fake glass in the LiveDB and sometimes some hardwood materials. Other than that, I make my own. I would also love a Local DB option, especially since I just purchased some awesome wood textures from arrow way textures and cant upload them due to copyright. importing is fine, but you dont get a quick preview and its a bit more cumbersome.

There are also some other opinions.

Do you have an ETA for LiveDB/Macro integration? I'm working on a project that I started with the standalone, where I saved a lot of the materials as macros. I'm trying to decide if I should just redo them as new Octane nodes in Blender or wait.
mib2berlin wrote:Hi, you write "The LiveDB is not supported by current version of Plugin.".
Is it planned to integrate the LiveDB during the Beta time or for later after stable.
kavorka wrote:The best thing to do is to look at the materials on the LiveDB and learn how they set it up and then create your own materials.
I have used some of them, with a little modification, to good effect, but mostly just make my own.
matej wrote: ...
Also, a lot of us don't use the default "in-mesh" embedded material node, but material macro nodes or macros from LiveDB, which offers more control & flexibility - extracting & translating materials back to Blender form that is practically impossible.

The task of "implementing something" is binary - you can either implement it or not implement. I can not implement the LiveDB on 50% to respect the opinions of those who does not need it, if there are other 50% who needs it.
So, if you don't need it - just don't use it, it is a better opportunity than trolling here.;)

Perhaps I will consider the opportunity to add the "local store" feature to LiveDB section in Blender later. But anyway, it can only be done if you already have the LiveDB section implemented to which you can add this feature.

Yes this is the intended behavior - this is how it is closed (see installation manual page:

Thanks
