Been playing with Direct and AO and starting to like it more and more. Just one hdr and one fill light.

amazing shot! Light is so atractive: soft & with nice split..
So just for clarification: You merged two shots in post?..

cheers

Thanks! No it's one pass from octane. The main light is the hdr and there is a plane light inside the room close to the camera to take away some of the "ugly" corners you can get with AO.

Wow! I am so impressed. How big is your scene? Are you using portals to channel the HDRI into the room? I hope that one day I can make images that are this real. I have the power but not the skills yet:p

Great render, with good realistic feeling to the scene.

Could you pleas show a shot of the scene in wire-frame?
Also try to show where you place the light plane and camera?
and you do you use portals or?

ou, thanks for explanation =) love the outcome. Honestly, Never been a fan of DL, but I believe I should adjust my attitude towards this kernel, as there are some beautifully crafted scenes from time to time showcased in this forum! =)

cheers
