A person from Luxology/ The Foundry posted here: http://forums.luxology.com/topic.aspx?f=38&t=76715

and says that he does not recall any such discussions or that Otoy ever played any active part in showing them where the asserted deficiencies in the Modo API are. From what I read a Octane live plugin should be doable with the Modo SDK.

Would love to hear what Otoy has to say about this.

EDIT:

Nothing, apparently. Who cares about this handful of Modo users anyway, right?

Yes, I've heard the same, but maybe someone from Otoy can give us an idea how this can move forward, if at all...??

A Modo plug-in is not trivial, but not impossible. We'll keep you posted.

Yeah, thats nice. I do not want to be impatient here, but we are waiting for a Modo plugin for such a long time now that this is not quite enough or the news (if there is any) I (or we) was hoping for.

Is it actually in development? Is there some kind of very rough time frame? Will there be some kind of announcement in the near future?

Supporting Modo is a high priority for us. No official timetable until we can show a working version ready for alpha/beta testing, just like all previous plug-ins.

I would love to talk to some insiders at foundry to see what challenges or limitations that the sdk might have that would prevent Octane from becoming a viable rendering plugin. Though Modo's rendering engine is extremely nice, Octane does some things that are just stellar.
