This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Rhino, build 1.20.1 (STABLE RELEASE). This version is compiled against Octane 1.20.1, so see the requirements for that build regarding compatibility with your video card.

This version requires Rhino5, SR5.

This STABLE version is 1.20.1.16 (but updates may be posted in this thread which supersede this release number).

This is a substantial release, and whilst it has been tested thoroughly, it should not be used for urgent product quality work for a few days in case there are issues found.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Rhino version and build number
- OctaneRender for Rhino version (ie. 1.20.1.13)

Change Log from release 1.20.1 STABLE
- Added Setup tab rightclick menu option to "Clear Background Image"
- When rendering with "alphachannel" enabled, and no background image, the background is now B&W checks
- Added OctaneRender toolbar file (installed in the plugin install location). On-line manual will be updated with.... Install via Tools -> Options -> Toolbars -> File -> Import Toolbars -> Select "OctaneRender Toolbar.rui" from the plugin install folder (c:\Program Files\Otoy\OctaneRender for Rhino), and tick "OctaneRender" and OK. A mini toolbar will appear with a button to open the OctaneRender Settings panel, which you should close. Now rightclick the top menubar, select "Show or Hide Tabs" and click the "OctaneRender" tab. A new OctaneRender tab will now be added to your main Rhino toolbar.
- Resolution Lock status is now correctly saved between sessions
- Fixed issue with aperture slider not being calibrated correctly
- Reduced the emitter "power" value when converting Rhino emitter materials to Octane diffuse emitters
- There is now a Material tree rightclick option to reload all texturemaps (from the file system). This is only relevant while the Viewport is open, since refreshing the scene gives the same result. Perhaps this should be a Viewport button?
- There is a new button on the Geometry tab to convert a Rhino Rectangular light to Rhino geometry with an Octane diffuse emitter geometry.
- New installation filenaming for the 32bit version
- Removed scaling of LiveDB textures. It is now the users responsibility to correctly uv map the geometry so that the LiveDb material is scaled
appropriately
- Changed Viewport Lock from 'X' to a padlock.
- Add new 'lock' button to stop the rendertarget picking up when the user changes which Rhino view is the active view. Remembered between sessions.
- Fixed issue where changing the Imager Response once the render had finished would restart the render
- Added resolution presets and aspect ratio lock checkbox to the resolution node (only available when resolution is locked). Edit resolution.xml (in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\OctaneRender for Rhinoceros) to customize the resolution presets.
- Added new configuration option to use the existing rendertarget geometry (if the Viewport is open) when rendering in the Rhino render window. Prevents the plugin from reloading the scene into Octane each frame of a sun study or flythru.
- The Octane sun now only sync's to the Rhino sun if the Rhino sun is enabled. If not enabled, you can position the Octane sun using the sliders. NOTE: There is no Rhino event triggered when you turn on/off the sun, so the Settings tree does not reflect the change in the Rhino sun on/off state (when the Viewport is not open) until you select a new node. NOTE2: Once the Rhino sun is turned OFF, the Octane sun will reset to it's default position rather then where the last known Rhino sun was positioned.
- Fixed issue where the Viewport Navigation button status was not being saved when the rendertarget had been saved to a View
- When changing a node to an image, floatimage or alphaimage, the Load File dialog automatically appears
- Cosmetic changes to the Viewport button bar
- Added 32 bit build

LIMITATION - If you turn the Rhino ground plane on - the Octane material for this geometry cannot currently be accessed. I am awaiting info or a bug fix from McNeel to rectify this. In the meantime, pls use a Surface Plane instead of the Rhino Ground Plane.

LIMITATION - Sun studies are not currently picking up the correct sun position. There is a support call in with McNeel on this issue

KNOWN ISSUE - When Octane materials are created for imported geometry materials which have texturemaps in the same folder as the imported geometry file, the texturemap, bump map and trans map will not get converted. This is scheduled to be rectified in the Rhino SR6.

Hi Paul,
first of all thank you for developing a Rhino-plugin. I´ve been waiting for this so long!

I downloaded the previous version the other day but couldn´t work with it. It says: "Octane-ID and Password not found. You will need to activate the plugin."
I couldn´t find where to enter the ID. Seeing that there is a new release I loaded that. But it won´t install at all. Tried to delete the older version and couldn´t do so either.

What´s wrong there?

Cheers

The rightmost tab in the octane render toolbar/Menu (http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Rhino/?page_id=29). The command to lauch the menu is "OctaneRenderForRhino". Also if you haven't already purchased the rhino beta license you will need to do so to get a new userID and Passsword which is different than your standalone license.

Yes, it is a purchased plugin. There should be a demo version available in about a week.

Go to your Window Control Panel and uninstall it.

I don't think that is possible. I might be possible to use the Rhino color selection dialog though - is that something people want?
