My best guess is that there is a conformance issue with the dress on the figure - resulting in some geometry erroneously being placed outside the dress. Some figure have additional fake bones hidden inside the figures which might cause this. One solution is to open the Octane Viewport, click the material picker, click on the spot on the ground. This will pick up the material that is rendering at that point. If the Material tab selects the ground (from the material pick click), then it is not the above issue. If it select a dress material, then that is your problem. You may just be able to set that materials opacity to 0 to make it vanish.

It isn't something as daft as 'posing handles' on the dress is it?

Ok,

I seemed to have solved it! I didn't notice but there were an entry in the materials list,
below the clothes items - labeled red { specular} . Not sure what this refers to, since I don't
see any red on it at all. However, I removed the opacity on that and voila - works like a champ
3 dots gone! { although the characters knees look slightly over red for some reason. But I think
I can live with that}

Not sure about posing handles and bones { didn't see them in the prop list } And I'm new to poser
so havent worked with bones yet.

Thanks Paul, and all, for help.

So once again, Octane comes through beautifully for the Win! Thanks Octane!
