Hi Paul,

Is the Standalone function "use background image" already available and hidden for my eyes?
Or will it be abailbale in future?
It is very very usefull for setting camera correctly to photo and render it with daylight or texture environment and combine the render in the original photo... I was doing that today, but I had to do a lots of trial and error photorenderings in Archicad to get the camera right.

Not available at the moment, but definitely in the future. The question is /how/ it will be implemented. The current implementation in Standalone doesn't save the background image with the saved image and that problem would exist with the plugin, so there are some things to work out first.

2) I Cannot assign the same OBJ to another 'empty' (has no proxy yet) AC object.
Hi Jeroen

I just investigated this, and it was working for me.
1) Add Object to the scene
2) Open plugin and assign grass.obj to that object, open viewport and start rendering
3) Add another Object to the scene, go back to the 3d view
4) Assign grass.obj to the second object, refresh to Octane scene - everything OK.

Are you able to reproduce the problem? Is your workflow different from mine above?

I have just refreshed the AC16 and AC17 plugin installers at the top of this thread with the following:

1.20a2
- New "Addition Options" item in Materials tab to print a list of Octane materials. Use this option to track how many materials the plugin is using (out of a maximum of 2000). Deleted object materials are not deleted, so if you have a lot of unused materials - consider clearing the Octane data (see next option).
- New Addition Options item in Settings tab to clear the Octane node saved data from the ArchiCAD project file

Great.
I understand that you wait, because otherwise you have to do implementation twice.
Imho it is not needed to save the background with the saved image... In most cases it will be used as help to set the camera to the right perspective and then the image will be rendered with alhabackgrpund with daylight ot hdri background for reflections and good light... abd then in postproduction you can add the background image again.
But probably others know good reasons to save it when rendered ;)

Thanx for the 1.20a2.

Hi Paul,

I tried to reproduce the error and it does not happen all the time.. seems to be happening with more complex OBJ, maybe more materials or textures. When I assign proxy with simple geometry it is fine, but when assigning other OBJ the error happens.
The workflow is the same, but I close Archicad pln and re open the pln and then it happens.

I'll send you a file with the OBJ's for you to be able and replicate. and investigate.

greetings, Jeroen
