Hi,

I do not know if anyone else is having this issue. But I have a serious problem in adjusting DOF. It used to be very simple to set the DOF with teh DAZ cameras, now however there is an Octane autofocus. Can someone please explain to me how to best set this up so that for instance I can setup DOF for an object. Currently I am using perspective view for rendering since no matter what i do DOF does not work, or at least not like it used to with straight forward DAZ controls

there are two steps:
  1. adjust the dof (blur) strength by setting the "OctaneRender F/Stop" or "OctaneRender Aperture" values in the daz camera controls;

    aperture is the original octane parameter, and fstop is a calulated value, means these two sliders are coupled and affect each other.

    one thing to note is, that aperture allows the full range that octane supports (allowing some extreme blur), whereas f/stop uses a more natural range (from 0.05 to 22). to turn dof off (sort of), turn the aperture slider down to its minimum.
  2. use the verious focus controls in the viewport to set the desired focus point:
    • the focus picker tool sets the focus point to the picked surface
    • the focus follow tool lets the camera focus follow a specific node, using the center of this node
    • the focus option menu (at the bottom) allows to set the focus to selected objects, as well as setting a follow node (where also the center of this object is used), and turning autofcus back on
    • last but not least you can use the viewport context menu set focus and focus follow modes (again using the node center)
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply
